Great Place to Rest, Relax, & Refresh

My husband and I stayed at one of the Hunt's casitas for two months during February and March. Paradise in Panama is a mini-resort for 3 couples, so the beautiful pool is almost private, and one of its very best features. (A convenient pool is essential in the tropical Panamanian heat.) We visited with the other couples around the pool every day. Our casita had everything one needs: kitchen, comfortable living area, well-sized tiled shower, and a super patio (with a hammock for snoozing or reading). Suggest you leave your oven food recipes at home: ovens don't exist in Panama -- they produce too much heat. Instead, use the BBQ grills, with tin foil pans for vegetables. The grills also are great for meals with other guests. Russ and Linda Hunt, the owners, live at the mini-resort. They make helpful suggestions on activities and travel. Do ask them! Thanks for the many books! We did not rent a car, so the couple block walk to the Pan American highway over rocky streets in daytime heat (90-95 degrees every day) was intense. Buses for 30 cents to Coronado (3 miles) are plentiful on the highway, and other buses take you to restaurants (we enjoyed Picasso and the Sandbar) and the Pacific beach. Local buses in Gorgona take you to restaurants (Rincon Catracha and La Ruina) and the local fishing beach. Taxis are readily available for $3-4, and a bit higher for trips to other beaches and the cool mountain town of El Valle. We also visited Casco Viejo and the Canal in Panama City, seafood markets, plus a jungle trip to the Emberra people. The natural beauty of Panama, with its hills and flowers, are superb.

My wife and I stayed at Paradise in Panama for a month and were totally impressed with the grounds, the Casita and the owners. The owners, Russ and Linda, live on site and are super nice people and care very much for their guests and their place. The grounds and the pool were always kept immaculate. This property is exactly as described in the write up and the pictures do it no justice. We would recommend this as a place to stay to anyone thinking of going to beautiful Panama. There are little stores, restaurants and bars as well as beaches within 5 minutes of the Casita. The owners were helpful and answered any questions we had and always went out of their way to make us feel welcome and part of this small but cozy place. I will continue to tell anyone who will listen that Paradise in Panama in Neuvo Gorgona is the only place you should consider for your stay in Panama. This is a great home base for day trips or overnights in the city. If you can book this place for your stay in Panama you will consider yourself died and gone to heaven. Don't hesitate to give Linda a shout. She is always welcoming and very happy to help with all your needs. We are planning to return and this is our destination of choice. An Absolute Paradise In Panama

This property is exactly as listed, the studio is immaculate with all the accessories needed, the pool is sparkling and the grounds are beautiful and clean, Russ and Linda are the most welcoming and helpful hosts we have experienced in many years of renting vrbo’s in many different areas, it is easy and costs very little to access the many beaches, restaurants and grocery stores of Gorgona and Coronado with the local busses and taxis, as well as small towns further down the coast, we can not wait to return to this property next January.

We stayed in Linda and Russ' casita for three months and it was amazing! We didn't expect that the property was a nice as in the pictures but it was even better! The house, pool and the whole property is perfectly clean, perfectly equipped and there really couldn't be a better description than "Paradise in Panama". Linda and Russ' place is a perfect spot to sit back and relax, to watch the birds, to enjoy the sun and the pool. But it's also a perfect "home base" for travels through the area. It's not just that the beaches are very close, it's also just one hour drive the Panama City, to the canal, to authentic jungles (like Soberania NP) or to the mountains (like El Valle de Anton). We recommend you to rent a car so you can enjoy all these trips, but there's also a pretty good bus system. Around Gorgona you have lots of big grocery stores and restaurants and everything else you might need, such as bakeries, pharmacies, doctors etc. We didn't miss anything and always felt safe, even at night. Linda and Russ' hospitality is great, we always felt welcome and they take care of everything. We couldn't have chosen a better place for our winter in Panama and if we come back to this country, we'll surely stay at Linda and Russ' place again.

We felt so fortunate to have found this place in Nueva Gorgona. The owners are terrific hosts and are happy to share tips to make the Panama experience the best it can be. The grounds of this property are BEAUTIFUL and well maintained, as is the pool. We enjoyed reading and socializing poolside every day , then slipping in to cool off. This casita has its own private patio and grill. We enjoyed our morning coffee there, lounging on the furniture and hammock, and making meals at the end of the day. The kitchen has everything one needs to make themselves at home. The bed is very comfortable and the unit is just as the pictures show - clean, modern and spacious. We stayed for three weeks, but could have easily stayed longer in comfort. I highly recommend this property for a stay in Panama!

A Great Little Hideaway in Paradise

Stayed at Linda and Russ' place February and March 2018. What a great spot! The place is exactly as shown in the pictures and the pool is always sparkling clean and crystal clear. Russ spends his days continuously making improvements to the place and taking care to make sure his guests are happy whilst Linda looks after the necessities and conveniences on hand in all the casitas (there are only three) . They are great hosts and very knowledgeable about all the things to do in the area and how to get to them either by car or by the amazing bus system. They can help with airport transfers as well as car rentals. Its located close to local markets that serve everything you need within a short walk and its a short bus ride to Coronado where you can buy anything and everything you can at home that costs 30 cents and a cab ride back with your groceries is less then five bucks. Cabs are always by the grocery store in Coronado and busses up the main highway are minutes apart. Well done Russ and Linda. We loved our stay at Paradise in Panama and are looking forward to a repeat visit sometime soon. Beach in Nueva Gorgona is once again a short 30 cent bus ride or a good hike but is well worth the trip. Just get on the bus and say BUENES and wait for the welcome response from your fellow riders. Once at the playa, you can sit at the local beach bars by the fish market and drink cold drinks and eat the catch of the morning (not the day but the morning). Freshness and Panama culture abound. Walk along the deserted beach to a Tikki bar were you will meet an abundance of ex pats who love to chat. Or back up into the town for a snack and drink at La Rouina. A restaurant owned and operated by a lad from Atlantic City and his Panamanian wife who can tell you some great stories about the origins of the town. I could go on and on. But if your looking to experience Panama in it true beauty and experience much of what this great country has to offer then a great place to start is with Russ and Linda at Paradise in Panama. Enjoy! The property (both the Casita and the grounds) were absolutely wonderful...the listing is very accurate - everything is impeccable and well appointed. Owners Linda and Russ are helpful, friendly and discrete. I would highly recommend this property. This is a quiet and peaceful environment so probably not much of interest for party types. As the property is not really walking distance to the beach, the pool was greatly appreciated and also well maintained...most times we had it all to ourselves! Very nicely appointed casitas. Great hosts who take the time to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The grounds are wonderfully landscaped with plenty of trees and flowering shrubs. The pool is super clean and just the right temp. There are plenty of lounge chairs around for the quests. You are within walking distance to the bus stop where for 35 cents you can hop a ride to the next town up the road for shopping, groceries or a quick bite to eat. Or catch a cab for $3 to a nice restaurant inside the gated area of Coronado. The area is close to the Pacific ocean beaches or El Valle. Rent a car for a few days or for your stay to get out and explore the area more. M&M

This cozy studio was clean and compact but everything we needed was there. We spent most of our time outside lounging on our large private deck or by the pool. Quiet and intimate, no crowds here. Our hosts Russ and Linda once again made us feel right at home. It was our second stay. And we hope to return again next year!

The casita is beautifully decorated and so clean. The grounds are immaculate. I am very picky about where I stay and I can't say enough good things about Paradise in Panama. Russ and Linda were so friendly and helpful. They have a true gem and I would recommend their casita to anyone wanting a nice, quiet, relaxing vacation. Great restaurant and beaches nearby! The pictures and description of the property are spot-on! The rental villas are spacious, clean and well-appointed for a comfortable stay. Russ and Linda provide invaluable suggestions about the offerings for the surrounding area; restaurants, shopping, beaches, etc. You will not be disappointed this gem of property will offer. I'm planning my next stay for April and we're starting a Paradise-in-Panama tradition since I was so impressed with their vacation home: I will return every year within few days after Christmas to smoke barbecue ribs for New Year's Eve and then it's off to the beach to watch fireworks to bring in the New Year! My family and I loved this spot. We live in Panamá City and have have been to many bnb’s by the beach, and this one is one of our top picks. The casita’s are immaculate; they are thoughtfully stocked with everything you need cook, bbq etc. We bbq’d every night by the pool. Our 17 month old loved the pool (very clean). The property is well maintained— overall, they’ve done a great job! We hope to be back during when we get some more time off. Highly recommend this place!

Our New Favorite Vacation Destination!

I know - the pictures look too good to be true - how can a pool be so perfect unless it's brand new - but the accommodations, pool, and grounds are even more immaculate and inviting in person than in these pictures! Everything written in the description is more than true!! Russ and Linda have created the perfect environment to relax and enjoy yourself. The studio is incredibly comfortable with a thoughtfully setup kitchen, perfectly clean and beautiful bathroom, a mattress I could sleep on the rest of my life, nice grill, and a gorgeous view of the pool. We opted to chill on the property all but one day of our week vacation, but there is plenty to do with great shopping/restaurants/beach nearby. Russ and Linda are very friendly and helpful. Yes, the WiFi is excellent too! We streamed several movies with no trouble at all. :) This is a wonderful gem to find, it would be great alone, as a couple, a family or several families! I wish we could have honeymooned here.... We'll be back again and again! Thanks, Russ and Linda!

The location of the casitas was more centrally located than I initially realized. It's a couple blocks to walk to the bus stop that can take you into Coronado for 35 cents. From there you can easily catch buses all over Panama. The buses are inexpensive, and run all day long. The casitas is located on a clean, safe street, and is impeccably maintained. I walked to the beach everyday, which was good for me, as I picked up fresh fruit from the corner stand, and whatever needs I had from a selection of corner stores. Frequently expats would stop and ask if I needed a ride, people around that area were always friendly. Russ and Linda are the nicest people ever. They treated me like family, always welcoming, considerate, special, can't say enough good things about them. Russ has the most amazing ability to predict the weather, with a 99.5% accuracy! Linda is kind, sweet, thoughtful. The casitas itself was exactly as the other reviews reported. Clean, designer quality, everything you could want and more. I stayed a month, my daughter stayed a week, we wish we never left.

This is a wonderful, central place to use as a base to explore Panama. The accommodations are wonderful and clean with everything you need. The pool area is heavenly. Nuevo Gorgona is the first Pacific beach area out of Panama City. It is also close to El Valle, Altos Del Maria, and a cheap bus ride into Albrook Mall in Panama City. You are 5 minutes by car from all the shopping and groceries you need in Coronado as well as nice restaurants. You can feel safe in a gated enclave including parking. Linda and Russ are the perfect hosts, who speak English, and give great attention to detail and client satisfaction. Our favourite Casitas in our travels by far. They are so well thought out and have everything you could want or need. Our favourite thing to do was relax in the large pool and watch the day go by. So relaxing and quiet. The nearby beaches were also very quiet. Certain days they were mildly rough and on other days they were very gentle. At only a 5 minute drive away, you could not go wrong. And you would never see more then a small handful of people on the beach. There are a few stores within walking distance however if you need more then just the basics, Coronado is just a five minute drive away. The casitas come with a helpful list of restaurants and shopping destinations and the hosts were always available for any added questions. Highly recommend.

Fabulous Week in Paradise

This property is aptly name. It is paradise!! I'm a stickler for cleanliness and the casita, the pool, and the grounds were immaculately clean!! Linda and Russ are the consummate hosts. From the time Russ picked us up from the airport to our return, we couldn't have been happier. The kitchen is well stocked and we didn't need to borrow any gadgets. The bed was so comfortable! I slept better here than I do at home! I love the attention to detail, such as including a full length mirror and laundry hamper in the bedroom. The bathroom has a wonderful shower. We used the laundry room multiple times, which was very handy. Favorite times include swimming in the super clean pool and enjoying my coffee on the patio. The location was perfect for us, allowing easy access to grocery stores nearby and providing a home base for our daily excursions into Panama City and surrounding areas. Linda also helped arrange our car rental, and we were very happy with their service. We will certainly return!!

The Hunts are lovely people. The house and property is well maintained. The pool and barbecue area is nice. Panama can be loud and busy at times. The Hunts have created a relaxing respite from the hustle and bustle. The Hunts provide all of the amenities needed for comfortable stay. The check-in and check-out process was simple.

This property was recommended to me, while I was travelling in mid February, staying in Pedasi and looking for a property in the Coronado area. After contacting Linda and Russ and set up appt to view, I fell in love with the place. Once you enter the gates, it's a paradise. From my patio, I enjoyed the garden with mature trees and shrubs, which surrounded the pool, fashionably furnished to meet all guests needs. You awake each morning to the sound of various birds, almost as if it was something, pre recorded each day. The Casitas are new and boasts quality throughout. I never felt like I was in a vacation rental property. No water restrictions on this property. Having travelled extensively in Panama, this is something that one must keep in mind when booking. You can shower anytime time you wish. It's a 5 min drive or a 20 minute walk to the beach. There you can walk for miles. Some days I was the only person on the beach. There are a couple of small stores within walking distance, that you could pick up just about anything, one would need. The larger grocery stores are about 10 minutes away, which would cost approx 4-6 dollars by cab. Always negotiate with driver, before you get in. The bus is also an option to get around. Very inexpensive. Both Linda and Russ are knowledgeable about the area and very helpful in answering any questions that one may need answers to. In closing, the property worked well for me. I spent 3 mths there and enjoyed it immensely. Have already booked for next season.

Perfect ........Paradise in Panama!!

Newly retired Canadians, my husband and I were just plain lucky to have found the Hunts and their perfect little paradise. There are two perfectly appointed casitas on the property. The pool has a covered patio at one end and a colourful garden at the other. The casitas are modern, roomy and spotless and each is equipped with everything that you could possibly want or need. Linda has an eye for detail!! One casita has a patio with furniture and barbecue. There is a second barbecue at the pool so there is no need to worry if you are not staying at the casita with the bbq! There’s a handy laundry room with washer and dryer. The grounds are amazing with numerous palms, flowering hedges, mango, lime and avocado trees. We would have never known that Panama was in the midst of a drought except for watching Russ’s relentless efforts to keep foliage and grass alive and green for the guests. The casitas are extremely comfortable but it’s Linda and Russ’s warmth and hospitality that made us feel completely at home. While the Hunts live on the property, we never felt that privacy was an issue. We always welcomed seeing them throughout their busy days to ask the odd question, get directions or simply have a chat. Linda and Russ were genuinely interested in making our stay the best. And there were many days when we were the only ones at the pool! Not only is Paradise in Panama a wonderful restful and reclusive spot, it is also a perfect location to use as a home base to investigate neighbouring towns, venture out into the mountains or head into Panama City. Transit is easy and inexpensive whether you are using the bus or taxi. We used both. Linda will happily give you the name of her contact for best rental car rates! The four grocery stores in neighboring Coronado, 10 minutes away, have absolutely everything. Mini Supers are just a short walk away and carry many essentials. There’s a good selection of local, casual restaurants for eating out. We got fresh fish right off the boats in the bay on the beach, the beach being a short 10 minute drive. It’s walkable but it’s a hot walk! Fresh oysters were shucked from the rocks at low tide by locals….Yum! Gorgona is a community comprising of a mix of vacationers, expats, locals and vacationing Panamanians. We looked at other beachy areas during our stay and knew that Gorgona held the right mix for us. Can’t wait to return! Worth considering seasons when there are sea turtles nesting and lots of whale action!

Clean, quiet, friendly - superb!

My wife and I stayed at the Casita for 3 nights at the end of February / start of March and it was superb. As we had a rental car, it made a great home base for exploring the Chame/Gorgona/Coronado pacific coast area. It is only a 5 min drive to Gorgona beaches, 10 mins to Coronado beaches, and 25 mins to Punta Chame beaches (kite-boarding there looked awesome). Booking was smooth and easy, and Linda promptly responded to all of our questions. The Casita itself is brand new, spacious, and very very clean. The kitchen is full sized and fully equipped to make meals (there are several full sized grocery stores a 5 min drive away). WiFi was great, bed was very comfortable, and the a/c worked very well. The shared pool area is really beautiful, with a great pool, wide deck, and comfortable chairs for lounging, sunning, whatever you want. Last but definitely not least, Linda and Russ were very welcoming and friendly, and took every opportunity to ensure our stay was enjoyable. In short - was a great stay and highly recommended it to others!

Beautiful Casita!

My husband and I spent a week in this beautiful Casita. The pictures don't do justice to how lovely it truly was. Every detail is thought out especially in the kitchen where anything you may need to create a gourmet meal is at hand. The bed is comfortable and the air conditioning works really well. Russ and Linda are wonderful and welcoming hosts who are interested in making your stay as enjoyable as possible. The pool is impeccable, clean and beautiful...and it seems as though you are in the middle of the jungle with the fruit trees and flowers all around. We would stay here again in a heartbeat and felt very safe in this area.

What an incredible place!

Linda and Russell's personalities are perfect for this type of experience. The oasis they have created in Nueva Gorgona suits many needs - couple retreat, family vacation, long-term stays for exploring the area. The pool is steps away from the two casitas that sit side by side but are built to have complete privacy from one another if needed. Many sitting areas and a few BBQ's complement the ability to cook in your own casita in a kitchen that is better equipped than my own! Linda and Russell are there when you need them and are great company over an evening chat or a poolside drink. They love to work with you to ensure your stay is the best it can be and the location is central to beaches, shopping, golf and the mountains. I would recommend having a car to get around unless you are comfortable with the excitement of the public transportation system. For local food we enjoyed La Ruina great vibe to the place and the fish was very fresh. The Tiki bar on the beach is a fun spot to hang out for an afternoon. Plan to bring shoes the beach sand is HOT - water socks would probably work better than flip flops.

The Casita is on a plot in a small town (a few minutes to the beach) and is very well equipped, it has nothing missing and was very clean (everything is new). We slept excellent and spent a few relaxing days by the pool. Location is ideal for exploring the surrounding area, the owners are very nice and helpful.

Great time in Gorgona!

Linda & Russ were very friendly and welcoming, and we had a great stay with them. They were even happy for us to help ourselves to the coconuts off their trees. :) The one bedroom casita is well furnished, with everything you need, including plenty of towels for shower, pool and beach. The kitchen even had a blender & grinder. There are fans in the kitchen, lounge and bedroom, and the air conditioning unit in the bedroom keeps the cottage cool. The WiFi works on the porch with your laptop, but they are working on this so that will work inside the casita too. The large king bed was firm but very comfortable. It's a lovely, low-key neighbourhood where you feel like you are in semi-rural Panama rather than in the nearby high-rise zones. The compound is secure and gated, and you are only a short drive to the beach. We will definitely stay here again.
